GranGarda is a small adventure, meant to discover a diverse landscape and a rich heritage. Growing up in this area, we have been exploring, hiking and riding for years. We wanted to plan a bikepacking route connecting the main sights around the lake, riding by the most iconic trails and mountain passes, visiting medieval villages and charming towns. The route shares parts of the BVG hiking trail and well established cycling paths.
Like everybody else, he learned to ride a bike as a kid, and never quit. After many years and countless miles, he is still amazed by the gyroscopic balance given by the spinning wheels, the instant pleasure of moving forward by pushing on the pedals, the endless freedom of climbing mountains and crossing the landscape. Also, he is the man behind the GranGuanche routes and Audax events.
Gaia discovered biking only recently but she has already realized that sharing efforts is a universal language which connect more than other things; she learned that when you travel by bike the people you meet will help you as much as they can because it’s hard to resist the charm of an adventure and freedom can be described as “wind on your face”.
After many years of seeking, Dharma finds in cycling the perfect combination between scouting, discovery and dedication. Designing a new route is satisfying as much as repeating familiar gestures that you do when organizing a new ride; but it’s in the climbing of a new peak that he is in his element as it is through the strain in the pedals that he has learned to know himself.
